Outside of Work
When I’m not designing things, I’m either working on side projects or helping plan events — I love getting involved and finding simple ways to spark joy. Below are just a few things I’ve been involved in over the past few years:
–
Empowering young girls in technology
TechGirlz is a Philadelphia non-profit aimed towards educating middle school aged girls about STEM. When TechGirlz reached out about hosting a workshop, we jumped at the opportunity to create our own called “Think Like a Designer”. Many of their tech workshops are focused on coding, so we wanted to put our own spin on it and teach them about how our studio approaches creating digital experiences through research, design, and development: https://studio.ey.com/blog/teaching-ux-design-to-techgirlz/

Inspiring others to get creative
At my workplace, we like to create wall installations out of outputs from various studio activities. In October 2019, I encouraged my colleagues to participate in Inktober, a drawing challenge that takes place annually throughout the month of October. The challenge was a fun way for people to break away from the computer screen and exercise their creativity. Design Takeaways from 99U Conference
In May 2019, I had the pleasure of attending 99U Conference in NYC. The theme of the conference, "Creativity is Future-Proof”, rang true in a lot of ways for its time and continues to hold up. Here are a few key takeaways I learned and often reference back to in the design space: https://studio.ey.com/blog/3-design-takeaways-from-99u/
